Hi, I am new in the Forum. These pictures are in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in March 2016 (summer in Argentina). Could you please help me to identify the species?
Thanks a lot

Eduardo

Hi Eduardo,

Nice pictures!
However, Argentina is far outside my comfort zone.

I can only help you, if you collect the material.

Greetings

Theo

It is Tabanini- Poeciloderas cf. quadripunctatus. This is the most common and widespread species but there are a few similar congeners.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
