Hello,
Photo taken in Pontevedra (NW Iberian Peninsula) on 03/10/2015 in a garden. It seems a Rhinophoridae. It could be a Paykullia?
Thanks
Luis Álvarez

Many thanks, Theo.
The legs were reddish (in another exemplary nearby also). I could not find other similar in internet and I do not know Paykullia partenopea.
I have more pictures if you should need.
Best regards and happy new year.
Luis

Partenopea is much smaller and the leg colouration - alas - is variable in maculata.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
