Excellent ID Reinoud; mine would also be E. candida! (It is hard to count wing cells 'double-exposed'; these guys have 3 'submarginal' cells -- with r2 separated from r3 by a complete crossvein.)

Thanks you two.
This key (http://www.hr-rna...%20key.htm) is excellent, but it is actually that difficult to count cells as Eric says.

: ) It was pretty hard to untangle all the veins....There is a "minor" problem with the ID, in the description of E candida it is mentioned that the bristles on the legs should be white. This specimen has a lot of black ones, local variety?

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
