Hi! I found these two males on the same day (19-06-2015) near Faliraki, Rhodes. Though the color of their legs are somewhat different, I think they belong to the same sp. Could they be the males of this Stenopogon:
http://www.diptera.info/forum/viewthread.php?thread_id=69775
I found some pictures of pinned S. milvus here:
http://eos.naturkundemuseum-berlin.de/result?Family=Asilidae&Genus=Stenopogon&Subgenus=&Species=milvus&InfraspecificEpithet=&AuthorYear=%28Loew%2C%201847%29
some of which look quite like these males (although the pics are not great...).
Thanks for any help in advance!
Greetings,
Henrik

They all key out to milvus in my ancient key : ) but only the last one fits the description. The others may be a local variety. My id is uncertain.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
