This Robber-fly seen at map ref. SZ678998 on plants at top of shingle beach., on 26-08-15. Unsure of species.

The photo was taken on the shore in Portsmouth, England. Sorry, I was using the Ordnance Survey reference. The latitude & longitude are 50.7886, -1.0373.

That is enough : ), by default Tolmerus cingulatus. ID based on colour of the legs, and the shape of the ovipositor. (In cingulatus it is less flattened than in T. atricapillus). In Britain the number of species of Machimus/Tolmerus is limited.
