A double pleasure for me: Angelopteromyia korneyevi Mohamadzade 2012, the fourth species in my genus Angelopteromyia Korneyev 2001 (Diptera: Tephritoidea: Platystomatidae).
It was described from W Azerbayjan (Iran) from a locality next to Turkish border and thus this is the first record in Turkish fauna.

This fly has larger clear areas on the wing than the illustrations of Angelopteromyia korneyevi: wingtip is clear, second crossband is not narrowed in cell r2+3, and basal clear area is much larger.

John, thanks for notification, I have a series collected in 2013; it all looks to be variable; we do not know anything about the distance from the type locality, neither the range of geographic variability, too; unfortunately, the chance to collect anything in Turkey and to publish it then w/o a permit =>0.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
