found on 2015-08-19 in the lower vegetation near a small pool at Patsch, Tyrol. Is it an Euthycera chaerophylli? Regards, Ingo

I know this species from Tyrol and am quite sure your fly is Euthycera chaerophylli, even it is a bit greyish (mine was browner). It should have a long-plumose arista.

Yes, a long-plumose arista is present. So I think iEuthycera chaerophylli should be right. Thanks for your help.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
