Anthomyiidae. Are segments 2-3 of the fore tarsi broader than the others?

In America there are several species with broad segments 2-3 of fore tarsi, and several more with broad segments 2-5. I do not have my books with me now to check. I think this fly has 2-3 broader than 4-5.

I think it does belong to the Alliopsis silvestris group. There are five European species in the group.

Griffiths says A. silvestris has strong interfrontal setae. I don't think I see any.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
