In the vicinity of Korenica in Croatia I saw this relatively large horsefly with bright green eyes without banding. Alt. approx. 700m Looking at the color and the shape of the antennas, I would say Philipomyia aprica (female) rather than a Tabanus sp. Is this assumption correct? Thanks for your advice. Definitely Philipomyia, though I'd say it is more likely Ph. graeca. Those two are very similar. Theo |
