Dear forum,

trying to improve ability to recognize families, I tried with this fly, found dead on windowsill, july, 7th, 2015.
(size 6,5mm, northern upper rhine rift, southwest germany).
Does it belong to family Anthomyiidae?
Thanks in advance for taking a look at this.
Best regards,
Thorsten

Thank you very much, Nikita, for even species name! I admit, this dead fly was not "fresh" in colours anymore.
Best regards, Thorsten

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
