I believe this is Tachinidae. Can anyone suggest a subfamily? Malaise trap, Townsville. Graeme Cocks attached the following image: [95.04Kb] Edited by Graeme Cocks on 18-06-2015 18:51 |

I just checked: on your planet, it is Chaetogena as well (as Stomatomyia in Crosskey). You have two: acuminata (also ours) and tricholygoides. Theo |

Checking ALA Chaetogena is not listed but Chetogena micropalpis is listed. I'm confused. Are Chaetogena and Chetogena synonyms? How did you check? |

Under the code of zoological nomenclature "Chaet-" and "Chet-" are homonyms. The correct spelling is whichever was used first, in this case Chetogena. |

This depends on your defintion of ' correct'. According to the lawyers of the Code, the correct spelling is Chet-, indeed. However, the really correct spelling, it is Latin, after all, is ' Chaet-' . As i have explained before, I am in the habit of correcting Rondani's spelling mistakes. I think it is unscientific not to. Everybody can feel free to disagree and take the other choice, I want condemn those. Theo |
