Tephritidae: Orellia falcata?

These pictures were taken by a friend on 26 May 2015 near Croydon in southern England. Using John Smit's key in De Nederlandse boorvliegen I have arrived at Orellia falcata. As the species is new to me and the pictures are not perfectly clear I would be grateful for confirmation or correction from somebody with a more experienced eye than mine. Looks either a very aberrant O. falcata or an aberrant O. scorzonerae; to my knowledge, O. sc. is not known in British Is. Ergo: O. falcata, but further observations would be interesting. Val |

Thank you, Valery. O. falcata is indeed the only Orellia in the current British list. I shall ask the photographer to look out for the fly if he visits the locality again but I am not sure how often he goes there. With thanks and best wishes, Phil |
