To my untrained eye, I think this could be a Tabadinae, possibly T. promesogaeus or T. bromius, although, unfortunately, it is virtually impossible to see the stripes on the eyes. This fly was in my house in Burgundy, central France. Am I on the right track, please?

Thank you, Sergiy. I can see now that the fly is either T. bovinus or T. sudeticus I am leaning towards sudeticus because I don't recall seeing any reddish/reddish brown colour on the tergites and the bands appear to be black to dark brown. However, I can't be certain and so, for now, I'll treat it as T. sudeticus/bovinus. Many thanks again, for your help |

I'd say it looks more like T. bovinus to me (greenish eye color, blackish antennae etc.) however, with this single image we can't go further than T. bovinus/sudeticus. By the way, the abdominal pattern is not reliable for separation of these species... |
