Thanks Johanna! I will upload more photos tomorrow. Is it necessary to see the genitalia to ID it?

Would be nice to see the genitalia.
Also a view on the midtibia and hindfemur could help.
Could you also check if there are some strong hairs on each lateral margin of the prosternum (difficult to photograph)
(prosternum; plate between the coxa of the forelegs, just below the head)

Leucophora obtusa (Zetterstedt)

Johanna Smile

(Note; there is one Leucophora species from Sweden I do know nothing about; Leucophora unilineata, but with the typical shape of the distiphallus, I am relative sure about L. obtusa)

According to Griffiths (1996) L. unilineata has different genitalia, lacking the long, semicircular "paraphallic processes."

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
