Hallo again,

Here a Tipula from Southern Germany between Rottweil and Tuttlingen, from a garden with a small gardenpool, at April 24th of this year. The male measures 12 mm, the female 17 mm.
The antenna has 13 segments, the 2nd small and the last very small. The antenna is dark, only the 1st and 2nd and the beginnung of the 3rd segment are brighter.

If my logic works right, it can be neither T. oleracea nor T. paludosa, because the space between the eyes ventrally is wide (paludosa), but the wings of the female are longer than the abdomen. I hope I.D. is possible with the photos below. I could take more details, if necessary.

Thanks a lot, Siga

oh, I forgot: The wing is of the female. And perhaps the linking is important too:

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
