hello...I took a picture of this fly on 23-03 in Voeren on a riverside.
At first I thought that this must be another specimen of Liancalus Virens. I had found one of these a week earlier on the same spot.
But here on the thorax only one stripe is to be seen, whereas L. virens certainly got two stripes.
The dots on the left and right side are the same, but the "only" one stripe puzzles me.
And there is one cross vein in the wing that seems different as wel...
but, I am just an amateur, so please correct me if i'm wrong..and thanks for looking into this Smile
chris

the first photo is the specimen..a second photo is that of L.virens I found last week..so you can see the difference easily

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
