Hi again,

which family does this one belong to? Is it determinable to genus or even species level, can someone answer this?

Thank you very much!

Hi Lennart,

my layman's guess is Drosophilidae.
Best regards,
Jürgen

Hi Jürgen,
would have been my first (conscious) contact with that family since school... ;-)
Thanks for your guess!

A male of the Drosophila obscura group. You can see the 'sex combs' on the front tarsi. Perhaps a subobscura.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
