Hi,

I suppose Tipulidae, but I'm not an expert. Larva from rotten wood and polypore a hollow tree.

Cracow, Poland, 26.02.2015

Thanking you in advance

i think it is closer to Limoniidae or Pediciidae (Ula) because the larva has ventral pseudopods. As it is large it can be only a few species, but as the anal lobes are hardly visible it is a bit difficult. If I would make a guess than it would be something like Epiphragma (?) or Ula.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
