Hello, it's me again.

Can somebody confirm my Platycheirus?
We found them all near woody structures in SW-Germany.

Spec. 1: P. albimanus ?
Spec. 2: P. parmatus (ovalis) ? (<-here i feel uncomfortable)
Spec. 3: P. peltatus ?
Spec. 4: P. scutatus ?

Regards
Pengie

Hello pengie,

I'd say all is true except the second specimen being a male P. peltatus. Tibia one is expanded and metatarsus is the typical shape of P. peltatus as far as I can judge...

Greetings,

Ectemnius

Hello Ectemnius,

thank you very much!
I will doublecheck the second one.

Greetings
Pengie

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
