this small muscid hovered a lot and seemed very attached to a large log of fallen Poplar, a mature hollow tree with nests and rotted areas inside. It was intrigueing so I took a specimen. It was very noticeable as it hovered with its orange abdomen and almost blended in with the Palloptera also showing interest in the log. Hmm, interesting, seems to be Fannia speciosa, an uncommon species. Maybe Nikita can have a look at this one..
