Hello,

is the family- or even the genus-ID possible without a view from the top of the wings?
Location: Germany, east of Nordrhein-Westfalen, on the edge of a deciduous forest, size each fly about 6 mm, only this photo taken on 04.05.2014.

Best Regards, Konrad

Hi Theo,
Is it possible for these to be Macquartia dispar (Tachinidae)? I think Macquartia can appear unlike Tachinidae from certain angles.
regards,
Steve

Hi Steve,

Maybe I was too fast, you could be right.
What bothers me is that I don't see haids on the eyes.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
