Hi all, I found today (21.10.2014) a few specimens like this one, under a dry piece of wood (Cerasus avium), in a pasture. Any idea about the genus/species?

My guess is Tachypeza nubila.
Best wishes, Niels-Jan Dek

The fore femur is rather extensively darkened for nubila, perhaps too extensively. Yet, the details are not sufficient to say if it is another species.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
