I think that may be Musca domestica, or, Musca autumnalis. But I will never distinguish.

Photograph taken on 18 October, 2014, in the wetlands of the Suárez Pond, Motril, Granada, Spain.
Immediate area of the Mediterranean coast.

Apparent size with wings, about 9-12 mm

Thanks for answers !

In North America, Musca domestica would have more widely separated male eyes and M. autumnalis would lack orange on the female abdomen.

I see some relatively narrow-fronted M. domestica in the gallery.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
