Good evening,
I shot this picture in Porriño-Pontevedra(NW Spain) on august 2010. Clearing in a mixed forest (pines + Oaks) at 100 mts.
It was parasitizing a bagworm.
Would be very pleased if some by could help me with its identification.

Thnks in advance
Rafa

Hi Rafa,

what a beauty, very nice pic, very nice animal! It belongs to the Ichneumonidae, for further information you could try the Ichneumonoidea-section on forum.hymis.de

Best regards,

Marc

Dear Camille and Rafael,
this is Chirotica sp. (Ichneumonidae, Cryptinae). Chirotica are known being parasitoids of Psychidae.
Best wishes!

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
