Darlington, Perth, Western Australia
Photo taken in 28th August 2014 by Fred Hort.

Jean Hort then requested help to several experts... here a bit story: "Ken Walker Senior Curator, Entomology, Museum Victoria replied:

"I could tell it was a Tachinidae fly and that it belonged to the tribe Rutiliini but a look in our Museum collection showed that we did not have this species. A check on ALA showed records for this tribe but not too many for SW WA. In fact no photos matched this fly.

I sent the image and location to Dr Christine Lambkin, a curator and fly specialist at the Queensland Museum.

Christine replied almost immediately that she did not recognise the fly but agreed with my tribal identification and that she would send the image to Dr Bryan Cantrell – a now retired entomologist and tachinid fly specialist.

At 12:30 pm this afternoon, we had a species identification from Bryan of Chrysopasta elegans (Macquart, 1846)."
