Hi All!

Could anybody help? Is it a simuliidae, or something totally different?
(the photo was taken in Hungary a few days ago at night, it came to light)

Thanks a lot in advance..

I am not sure if it is Sphaeromias. It's not clear now long the R cell is. Definitely Ceratopogoninae.

Thanks a lot, John!!! The photo was taken "by mistake", it was next to a much larger moth, and it was recognized only at home, that there are someone else also in the photo... therefore unfortunately no better image
But now we're on it to take a better one..... Thanks again!!

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
