Hello everyone,

could someone please help me identify this fly? I was thinking of Scenopinidae. Is that correct? Genus ID would be possible?
It has been caught in a mango orchard in Reunion Island.

Scenopinus

The family was revised by

Kelsey, L. P. 1969. A revision of the Scenopinidae (Diptera) of the world. Bulletin of the United States National Museum 277

and you can find that document online.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
