OK, bromius indeed.

The small one looks odd. Is the eyeband really lacking ? Please check.

I think I see one eyeband. For sure, please, refresh the specimen. Put it into any small vial with a small amount of water and place it into a freezer. After 24 hours take it under a microscope. Eyebands are well visible after this procedure.

It really should be maculicornis for many reasons, but the alula seems too large, that bothers me.
Could we get a picture of the base of the wing, please ? Strictly perpendicular view (to the wing, that is ).

Thanks

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
