Hi

* locality - Silgueiros - Viseu - PORTUGAL
* date - 2007.05.05.
* size - 6 mm (medium fly)
* habitat - openland
* substrate - Taraxacum cf. officinale

Calliphorid fly?? What a strange fly... it looks a little like Amenia (concerning the burnt face), but it is clearly very different!

The unusual thing is the calypters.. they are huge!!! awkward

TITLE ---> Title changed from "Fly with huge calypters and gena/frontalia burnt.." to " Sarcophagidae fly - Miltogramminae - Miltogramma (s.l.)"

Second suggestion is better !
It's actually a Miltogramma (s.l.).

Liekele might be able to help you to species level.

It is Miltogramma, probably aurifrons.

I think this is a female. Identification then is difficult. I need to compare it with other specimens.

Is it collected?
