Dear community
because I want to use this photo for an article I would like to ask your opinion about this species (i'm not a dipterologist): Eristalis tenax? Photo taken on 11 Apr 2014, Zürich CH.
Many thanks, Beat

Hello Beat,

I can only confirm that it's not tenax ;-) (interrupta?). You'll have to wait for the specialists.
Best regards,
Jürgen

I am no expert.
I can only say that I think this could be Eristalis nemorum.
There is a small dot in the wings...
But wait for the experts.
Sorry Juergen.
This means I agree with you, for now I see that nemorum and interruptus are synonyms.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
