Hi,

the next ones should be more interesting (but are very difficult for me) but let's start with the big ones.

They where all flying around a horse (that had to stay on the sun at midday, because he was attached...). Looking at my picture, the where at least 3 Tabanus species (+this one: 4), at least one Haematopota and Hippobosca equina. All of them quite numerous.
Fascinating for me, but i wouldn't have liked to be this horse!

If someone know: is there a specie there i could mistake with Hippobosca equina?

For this specimen: not that easy, but T sudeticus seems to be the one that fits the best, but i wouldn't bet to much on the!

You are right, sudeticus it is !

Interesting find, since Bulgaria is at the southern limit of its distribution.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
