Hi, Here is a Tabanid i found this summer in Pirins Montains (Bulgaria) at about 2200m hight in a meadow with cows. I'm not really sure of the genus, but i see a little pilosity on eyes. Legs totally black + tergites yellow pubescent on posterior margin would lead me to H auripila (witch seems to be a variety of aterrima in the gallery), would you agree? ![]() Clovis : Bulgarie : Bansko : 2841 : 20/7/2013 Altitude : 2153 m - Taille : 15mm environ Réf. : 116430 ![]() Clovis : Bulgarie : Bansko : 2841 : 20/7/2013 Altitude : 2153 m - Taille : 15mm environ Réf. : 116431 ![]() Clovis : Bulgarie : Bansko : 2841 : 20/7/2013 Altitude : 2153 m - Taille : 15mm environ Réf. : 116432 Edited by clovis on 22-03-2014 14:06 |

Yes, clovis, H. auripila it is. Recently, I posted here that auripila is the valid name and aterrima the synonym, not vice versa. Do a search in the forum to find this post. Theo |
