Hello Pristurus,

The two bands of hair on the eyes are typical for Eristalis tenax.

Well, E. tenax is common throughout Europe and they are approximately the same size. But sometimes there's one who is just HUGE. I found such a specimen this year in Belgium. So they will get this big in Germany too!
