Hello everybody,
please, is it possible to tell at least genus of this robberfly through this photo:

farm4.staticflickr.com/3818/9567291304_16559e53f1_z.jpg

Larger view: http://farm4.stat...f4f6_o.jpg.

Picture taken in Southern Hungary in August on an early morning. The size was about 13 mm.

Thank you, Nikola

Are you sure it is not an ex robberfly, which has gone back to its maker?

Yes Ruud, I saw another one with the same posture and this one started to move as the sun warmed it up.

Tolmerus cingulatus. Im not totally sure there are no similar species there. It is not T. cowini only similar species known to me.

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
