The pterostigma looks too black and well-defined for B. varipes (compare http://www.dipter...Bibio.html. B. johannis might be a better candidate. Regards, Sundew |

Thank you Sundew! Yes, Bibio johannis is right. There are no pictures of the female fly in the diptera-gallery, so I cant find it out. Regards, Dennis |

One should keep also B. lanigerus in mind. The females of lanigerus and johannis are hardly separable on photos. Males are much easier to identify. Do not only look at the gallery but use the forum search for older threads. There are lots of female pictures ! |
