Massachusetts, USA July 15, 2010. Many insects at sap. These are some of the Drosophilidae. In the previous year I saw two species of Drosophila and one of Mycodrosophila. See also thread 43411 from 5 days earlier (http://www.dipter...d_id=43411). Group of crawling, oozing things (click for much larger size, or view on Flickr) Male? (note hairs on fore tibia) with mite. Front half and back half of one. Female? and eggs, possibly her own and possibly not. Dark mottled fly similar to the flies that circle my head. |

At least three species, with the last image depicting on of the repleta group. That's where my knowledge of Nearctic species ends.
