Taken in a garden in Gijón Botanical Gardens on August the 29th 2012. I think it might be Helina impuncta. Confirmation or correct ID will be most welcome Wink

There are many more pictures and I can show good detail of any part of the fly if it is required (but genitalia, of course Grin Angry Angry Shock )

Helina, but abdomen is spotted, no ? If so, this is not H. impuncta.
Stephane.

And again, thanks a bunch, Stephane!! Smile

Checked my old pictures of Helina impuncta and I can see clearly my mistake awkward awkward

But what else can it be then? What do you need to see? I have loads of pictures with detail (all chaetotaxy of the legs, thorax, head...)

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
