Hallo! Can you help me with ID, pleas? It was found today in the North-West Russia, Karelia republic. Unfortunately, I haven't photo of the speciemen, only genitals.  |

I don't see any clear match with any of the species we have in the Psychodidae reference collection in the Bergen University Museum; and we have most of the species known to be present in Northern Europe. I can therefore give you a fairly long list of things that it is not. If you borrow me the actual specimen I might be able to say something more interesting. |

Hallo, I haven't this speciemen now. I caught a few samples from this place today, I think they likely belongs to this specie as well. I'm planning to check their genitails tomorrow. In the beginning, perhaps, I will load photos of wings and antennaes of them. I will try to id them with help of my Id-book also, but I'm afraid there are not all North-European species in it. |

The female genitalia are those of Psychoda (Tinearia) lativentris Berdén, 1952. It is rare in most of Europe, but very common in Northern Fennoscandia. If the wing and the antennae are from the male, it is probably lativentris as well, and it is not surprising that you did not find it in the ID book. There are no good descriptions of the male of this species in the literature, because it is mostly parthenogenetic in South and Central Europe. |

Hallo! Many thanks! Yes, the wing and antennae are from the male. Interesting information. Usually I caguth males, there are approximately 5-7 males and 1 female among collected samples. I could send them to You a few later. Are You need in these samples? |
