The species we now call Mycophaga testacea (Gimmerthal, 1834)[Anthomyiidae] was originally described by Gimmerthal in the genus Coenosia. It should not be confused with Coenosia testacea (Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830) [Muscidae] which was originally described in the genus Palusia. The name Musca pulchella was used by Fabricius for the species we now call Hemilea dimidiata, but he thought he was describing the Musca pulchella of Rossi (which we now know as Palloptera muliebris (Harris)). The name is a misidentification, and thus unavailable, and although it predates Costa's name, cannot be used, so is a synonym. Hemilea dimidiata (Costa, 1844) is the correct name. I do hope I've got that right!  The Cybernome site does not a give a source for its insect taxonomic information, so i can't comment on why it does not agree with the current thinking on this synonymy.
