is this a Tachina fera?

Hi! I asked some people on wikipedia and they were pretty sure that its a Tachina fera. Would someone be so kind to check if thats correct? Thank you very much!!

If it is continental Europe then I would guess that you are possibly correct - it looks either like T.fera than the very similar T. magnicornis Smile Do you have any photos from other angles?

ohh sorry!! I have the gps info on the wikipage: http://commons.wi...C_8801.jpg but yes, its central europe. Just checking if I have differnet angles... sorry, I lokks like as if I only took two shots and the other one ois deleted.

OK, it would be nicer to be able to see the front feet - they are black/dark in magnicornis and pale in fera. I would say that it isn't a very good photo to have on Wikipedia because it isn't easily identifiable as T.fera ... better to have one that shows all of the salient features Smile

Saying that, I keep looking at the width of the frons and, assuming that it is a male, it does look very wide, which would suggest magnicornis.

I can always move it up into the the category: Tachina and add that it could be either T.fera or magnicornis. I zoomed to the feet and they seem pale to me. But its not easy to tell because its a bit blurred. Thank you very much for your help!
