Found this one in my garden, yesterday. I think it's either Bibio hortulanus or B. anglicus, but I would like confirmation, if possible.

Bibio hortulanus to me Wink Venation fits hortulanus, not anglicus. I don't know if this is true, but I think that those white hairs on the lateral of the thorax are present in hortulanus and not in anglicus.

Wait for Theo's opinion. He will tell you for sure Smile

I would tend to agree - anglicus is a small species too (like johannis), while hortulanus is larger Smile

Yes, I do agree.
For this year, it is over with anglicus, it will be all hortulanus now.
