I've used Alan Stubbs key to Trichoceridae, could this be T. hiemalis? Problem is that I don't have good enough equipment to get a good view of the genitalia structures... Can it be confirmed still or is it a species not mentioned in the key maybe?? Found on snow 10. april 2012 in Bodø, northern Norway (coastal location). Size is 5,4 mm (wing length 6,8 mm). On the ventral side of sternite 9 it seems to have between 6 and 8 bristles... (but difficult to see clearly for me). Geir79 attached the following image: ![]() [110.16Kb] |

From what is visible, I'd say this is hiemalis - those teeth on gonostyles usually are smaller in borealis and gonocoxal bridge is not merged in borealis.
