No, that's no Eupeodes. Here you see continuous yellow bands across the abdomen - that should be a Syrphus, and as the eyes are hairy, I'd say S. torvus. Besides, in your last thread concerning Eupeodes you were told that in E. luniger the yellow markings do not reach the tergite margins, what they clearly do here. (What are tergites? Click on the Glossary on the left side bar, or use Google Smile.)
And I gave you a hint to the great Syrphid website by Wolfgang Rutkies (http://www.syrphi...) where you can pre-check your photos. It is also very helpful to use the search function of this forum. If you search for "Eupeodes luniger" you will find a lot of older threads that deal with that species, and there the experts discuss the characters seen on the photos and why they lead to E. luniger or to another species. So you can see if your assumed name fits your photographed fly or not.
The forum archive contains a real treasure of knowledge, and we should use it as much as possible. This enables us to find out the names of some of the more frequent species ourselves (hopefully Grin), and the experts are only needed to confirm Wink. Well, their time is short, as the forum has more than 2.000 members all eager to get their photos identified! Nevertheless they do their best, and I admire them for that!
Best regards, Sundew

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
