Hello! This is my first request in this great diptera forum. I hope that somebody can help me to identify this gnat/mosquito. It was found basking on a trunk of Fagus sylvatica in an open deciduous forest (wayside). Location: Marburg/Hesse; Germany; March 2011 Kind regards Stefan Edited by Skyfliege on 21-03-2011 19:38 |

Hello Paul, thank you! It is a gall midge. The specie should be impossible to determine without the appropriate host plant? Best regards Stefan |
