Phoridae, Phora sp.? Northern Norway

Don't have any idea of which family this belongs to. Only 2-3 mm, photo taken 06.09.2010. These flies(?) usually runs, quite fast too. Reminds me of small beetles (family Carabidae) in the way they moves. Never had any idea of what they are though... (except that they are Diptera). Yes, think you are right Further identification might be impossible, even with specimen??? No research done on these in Norway it seems because of difficulties with this. Read this on Wikipedia (Norwegian version). Edited by Geir79 on 11-03-2011 20:23 |

If it is indeed as velvety black as it appears to be it might well be Phora.
