Group sex or a circus number?... The two top flies are probably Empis oppaca, but I'm not sure what the third one is or what it is doing. It is usual to testify in Empidids that males offer a prey to the female.

The third one appears to be a syrphid, but there are plenty records of another empid in the claws of a mating female. On occasion there even have been smaller specimens of the same species that befell the fate of being the nuptial gift...
