Tachinidae - Gymnocheta viridis (first tachinid 2010)

Hi


Saw the first tachinid of the decade today and it was a nice Gymnocheta viridis.

Faunaeur treats this one as Gymnocheta viridis (Fallen 1810), but in the gallery it is mentioned as GymnochAeta viridis. This is the same problem with Chetogena/Chaetogena.

In the UK Checklist by Chandler the spelling of the name is given as "Gymnocheta Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830".

The spelling "Gymnochaeta Macquart, 1835" is listed as an emendation, i.e. a later change to the original spelling of the name and therefore not correct.
