Hi,

This strange fly looks similar to Sphaeroceridae but I'm not sure, the closest I found was a back view!

Taken on 3rd November, a few miles south of Lincoln UK in my garden. Approx. 5mm long

Any help appreciated, thanks! 3 pics.

Thanks Roger, could be Megaselia sp. from what I've found. This is bigger than other Phoridae I have!

Will change the title...Wink

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
