I will upload more photos... just stay with this one at 5:1 magnification. Wink
I must do stack photos one day! This is only one shot. But doing multi-shots shorts the lifetime of the shutter. Sad

NOT Gonia... awkward It measures aroun 7 mm - 8 mm. Medium fly.

Sometime ago, someone you know wrote about a fly from Silgueiros:

"It looks 100% gold. One of the most beautiful colours I saw on a fly."

but your right, it is a very beautifull fly.

Hi Jorge,

Not Gonia, but Frontina laeta. Easy to identify and quite common at the moment here in Finland as well! Typically on umbelliferean flowers. Parasitoid of Laothoe populi and Smerinthus ocellatus (Lepawkwardphingidae)

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
