Hello
I found this Tabanidae near easily damp woods on the Swabian low mountain range (Baden-Wurttemberg/Germany) on 700 msm on June 9th, 2009. It is a male of Tabanus bromius?

Can one determine this with the photos?

Size about 15mm

Regards
Andreas

Some flies preserved in ethanol and then pinned often get the eyes sunken, how can this be avoided? Best answer: I usually keep alcohol-collected material in alcohol

Yes, dipterologists from far abroad, please buy your copy at veldshop. Stamps will be expensive, but he, the book is unreasonably cheap Smile
